Integrated within Theme 1 “Better Integrated Delta Approach”, a Technical Visit to the Port of Lisbon was undertaken on 16th November 2010. On this visit, which had the collaboration of the Administration of the Port of Lisbon, the partners of the DeltaNet Project had the opportunity to visit the VTS Tower where a detailed presentation was given regarding the Port of Lisbon's activities and its role in the Tagus Estuary; the renewal projects of riverfront areas and the environmental and security concerns of the port's management. The partners also had the opportunity to visit the western sector of the Port of Lisbon and were therefore acquainted with the work that has been undertaken to requalify and promote the public appropriation of the waterfront: the riverwalk of Junqueira, the Museum of Popular Art, the Museum of Electricity, the conversion of the Docks of Santo Amaro and Alcantâra into recreational docks and areas for tourism and cruises.
